Project Boys & Girls Club

Campaign Story

About the project

The project focuses on providing support to the youth of the community. The project provides solutions and breaks down barriers, increasing access to vaccines that will enable communities to not only recover, but thrive. We provide communities the support they need and build a future plan with them by being fully informed about the consequences of the pandemic.

Making a difference

CRY America’s Project Boys & Girls Club of America focuses on serving 4.3 million children. It works towards distributing food & protective supplies, providing emergency childcare for children of essential workers, supporting youth with access to technology and WiFi and other forms of emergency responses. It also provides solutions by addressing the months of interrupted learning, trauma, and the new safety and health risks caused by the pandemic.

Teen Finds Comfort at Boys & Girls Club

It has been a difficult few years for youth for children in USA, so trauma-informed care is more essential than ever. For Gabby, her local club has been her home away from home,
a place where she feels safe and supported, no matter what she’s going through. Gabby had been dreaming of her 15th birthday for as long as she could remember. This was the year she’d have her quinceañera, a celebration of her transition into adulthood. With her

mother at her side, they planned out every last detail to perfection.

Then suddenly, just weeks before her birthday, Gabby lost her mom to COVID-19. She and her three siblings had attended the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme for years. With their mother’s passing, the Club became more than a safe place to learn and grow — it was where she and her siblings could grieve, find comfort and receive the love and support of a family. When it came to Gabby’s quinceañera, the Club staff picked up where her mom left off to give her the party of her dreams. Gabby’s quinceañera was a bittersweet day without her mom, but it’s a moment she says she’ll never forget. Even in the
face of devastating loss, Boys & Girls Clubs are giving kids like Gabby moments to be thankful for — the support of a family, the strength to face challenges, and happy memories to last a lifetime
